Grants
The Alberni Valley Community Foundation currently makes grants from the Community Fund once a year. To apply for a grant, non-profits are invited to submit an expression of interest by February 28th. Qualifying charities will be notified should the Foundation require further information regarding their application.

Organizations apply for grants to help fund local projects. The Foundation has established broad and flexible criteria, enabling it to support innovative activities.
Local Organizations
Local nonprofits and charitable organizations receive the resources they need to drive impactful programs and initiatives. With broad and flexible criteria, our grants ensure that innovative ideas have the support to thrive.
Past Grant Recipients
Apply for Grants
Grants are usually in the $500 to $5,000 range.
Areas that the foundation supports are:
- Arts Culture and Heritage
- Education
- Health and Physical Activity
- Social Services
- Environment
The foundation will consider requests from registered charities for;
- Program-related projects (i.e., specific, time-limited activity or a series of activities designed to meet certain goals)
- Capital projects, including construction, renovation or equipment purchases.

Other Grants
Scholarships & Bursaries
The Alberni Valley Community Foundation administers and distributes several bursaries and scholarships. These are provided through donations from families or organizations in memory of a loved one. Funds donated to create the annual bursaries are invested with the Vancouver Foundation with the interest arising awarded to deserving and needful students annually in perpetuity.
