In March 2009 the Foundation partnered with the City of Port Alberni in sponsoring a Climate Change and Sustainability Forum held at Echo Centre. This Forum was well attended and the two very enlightened speakers, Bruce Sampson and Nora-Kate Seymoar provided a most interesting and thought provoking evening.
In 2007 and again in July 2009 the Foundation was one of the sponsors of Forest Fest, a two day Festival of the Spoken Word, held at the scenic McLean Mill National Historic Site. This wonderful event, the largest of its kind on Vancouver Island, includes storytellers and poets for all ages, talented musicians and an open-air gospel concert on Sunday morning. The Foundation, a great believer in improving the level of literacy in the Alberni Valley, is proud to be a part of this well attended spectacle.
